About the Artist
Rebecca Sauer is a mosaic artist who resides in Coronado, California with her family. She began creating mosaics approximately 25 years ago in Philadelphia, where she was inspired by the masterful and prolific artist, Isaiah Zagar. Starting with “pique assiette” (the use of broken dishware), she moved on to ceramic tile, and then vitreous glass tesserae, with which she produced flower pots, tables, and cabinets. Her relocation to San Diego brought with it an introduction to Mexican Talavera. For the last several years, she has primarily worked with stained glass, fused glass and smalti.
